The ‘P’ Type Pump
Every Harben machine on this page runs the same pump. It’s the reason these units outlive the trucks they’re mounted on.
Most jetters use a triplex plunger pump — pistons and seals sitting directly in the water. Grit gets in, packings wear out, and running it dry can end the day.
The Harben ‘P’ type is a radial piston diaphragm pump. Every moving part is sealed off from the water, and it’s rated up to 6,000 psi at 18 gpm.
- Runs dry without damage
- No packings or seals to wear out
- Variable pressure and flow, no piston swaps
- Multi-cylinder design, virtually no pulsation
- Frost tolerant, compact and lightweight

The Difference
Why Public Works Chooses Harben
Six things that separate a Harben from every other jetter on the market.
Run-Dry Diaphragm Pump
The ‘P’ type separates every moving part from the water. No packings to wear out, no damage from running dry, and a service life measured in decades.
Less Water Per Job
Pressure does the cutting, not volume. Running high pressure at lower gpm means a 375-gallon tank covers more work than the number suggests — fewer trips back for water.
One-Operator Control
A 7-channel wireless remote gives fail-safe control from up to 500 feet away. The operator stays out of the traffic lane, and a two-person job becomes a one-person job.
Works All Winter
The pump is frost tolerant, trailer units carry built-in antifreeze systems, and enclosed skid builds keep the whole machine inside a heated box when the weather turns.
No DEF, Less Maintenance
Tier 4 diesel engines that don’t require DEF. One less fluid to stock, one less system to fail, and fewer trips to the shop across a fleet.
Local Service & Parts
Bortek sells Harben across PA, MD, DE and WV, and backs every machine with field and shop service in seven states — plus hose, nozzles and accessories. You’re not calling Georgia when a reel goes down.
Where They Work
Applications
Sanitary Sewer Mains
Root cutting, descaling and grease removal on 6″ to 18″ mains, with tank capacity sized to your hydrant spacing.
Storm Drains & Culverts
Clearing silt, debris and blockages ahead of storm events and as part of an MS4 stormwater maintenance program.
Laterals & Service Lines
The optional Mini Jet reel takes the E-180 and ET-180 down to quarter-inch lines for residential and commercial laterals.
Grease Lines
Restaurant districts and food service laterals, where a jetter that actually cuts grease saves repeat calls to the same block.
Industrial Plants
Tank washing, surface prep and floor washdown without solvents — and with the electric cart, without exhaust.
Winter Operations
Antifreeze systems and enclosed builds keep crews clearing lines through the months when other equipment gets parked.

Harben FAQ
Higher water pressure at a lower gallon-per-minute rate. Pressure does the cutting on grease, roots and scale, so you don’t need volume to get results. Because the machine uses less water per minute, one tank runs far longer on site — fewer refills, less downtime, more line cleaned per shift. Harben brought the concept to the U.S. in 1981 and built its entire jetter line around the ‘P’ type pump.
The E-180, ET-180, DTK-130 and all three 4018 units handle 2″ to 18″ lines. The ES-12 and the Industrial Jet Cart cover 2″ to 10″. An optional Mini Jet reel takes the E-180 and ET-180 down to quarter-inch laterals, so one machine can move from a main to a service line without swapping equipment.
The E-180 is the volume seller for municipal and contractor work. The ET-180 is the same machine with 750 gallons for mains and long runs between hydrants. The ES-12 and DTK-130 are the compact entry units. If the jetter needs to live inside a vehicle, look at the 4018 van pack, skid mount or truck mount. For indoor and sanitary work, the electric jet cart.
It’s a radial piston diaphragm pump rather than a triplex plunger. The diaphragm keeps every moving part out of the water, so there are no packings or seals to wear out, the pump runs dry without damage, and it handles low-lubricity fluids and even sea water without modification. It’s rated up to 6,000 psi at 18 gpm, available in 3, 4, 6 or 8 cylinders from 10 to 50 HP, in diesel or electric drive. See the pump section above for the cutaway video.
Yes. The pump itself is frost tolerant, and Harben trailer jetters include a built-in antifreeze system that protects the plumbing in cold weather. For crews working through hard winters, the enclosed 4018 Skid Mount keeps the entire machine protected inside a cargo trailer or box.
Harben jetters are available with a 7-channel wireless remote that provides fail-safe control from up to 500 feet from the vehicle. That makes single-operator jetting practical, keeps the operator out of the traffic lane, and cuts the crew size a routine cleaning job requires.
A Harben option that adds pulsing force to the water stream. The pulse helps the nozzle pull farther down the line while using less water on the run — most useful on long laterals and on smaller-tank units where every gallon counts.
